1. Hold Each Shear with Control

Place your ring finger in the upper loop and thumb in the lower loop. Rest your pinky on the tang for added balance. The ergonomic handle design keeps your hand relaxed and stable.

2. Use the Thinner to Reduce Volume

Start with the thinning shears when working on thick or uneven areas of the coat. Comb the section, then make short, light snips using only partial blade closures. This keeps texture soft and avoids over-cutting.

3. Shape with the Natural Curve

Both shears are curved to follow the body’s shape. Move gently along rounded areas—like the face, ribcage, or rear—to keep the coat flowing naturally.

4. Use the Blender for Softening Lines

After trimming or shaping, switch to the blender shears. Use small, overlapping snips to gently blend between different coat lengths for a smooth, polished finish.

5. Alternate Between Comb and Cut

Use your comb throughout the grooming process. Comb the coat up before cutting, and comb it back down after a few snips to check the result. This helps maintain even texture and control.

6. Trim in the Direction of Growth

Work with the direction of hair growth for the smoothest blending and a natural coat appearance. This also helps the blades move through the coat with ease.

Maintenance Guide

1. Clean After Each Use

Wipe both blades clean with a soft cloth. Be sure to remove fur from between the teeth of both the thinning and blending shears.

2. Oil the Pivot Point Weekly

Apply one drop of grooming scissor oil to the screw area. Open and close the blades a few times to distribute the oil evenly.

3. Store in the Included Case

Always return your shears to the provided protective case. This keeps them safe from drops, scratches, and misalignment.

4. Keep Them Dry

If the scissors come into contact with water, dry them immediately with a soft, absorbent cloth. Dry blades perform better and last longer.

They're pretty, but they arrived blunt. The thinners are particularly blunt. I used them once and they barely got through the dogs hair. I'm going to have to send them off to be sharpened already. I'm not overly impressed

I bought these expecting them to be the usual "okay" quality - I was wrong! They have a good weight, are quiet, are wicked sharp. I don't know how long they will remain sharp, but they feel like really nice quality shears! On par with my 100.00 shears. I groom part time, and didn't want something crazy expensive.

A great shears

My old thinning shears was getting dull & was not doing a good job on my Pomeranian. I checked with google to see what they offered & spotted this EliteTrim’s grooming shears. The price was ideal, cheaper than finding a place to get my old ones sharpened. I just plain love these thinning shears, they are about an inch longer than my old pair, they are extremely sharp & the design of the finger holes are very comfortable for long grooming sessions. I use them weekly as my dog is a therapy dog & sees a lot of people a month. He has to look in top shape all the time & these EliteTrim’s thinning shears makes my job of grooming not a big chore! Great scissors - I got them for trimming my golden and they work very well. I am not a professional so I have to be careful using them - they are very sharp and do an excellent job. Two bandaids can attest to this.
