Pro Tips

1. Grip the Scissors Correctly

Place your ring finger in the lower loop and your thumb in the upper loop. Let your pinky rest on the finger tang for balance. This works for both left- and right-handed users.

2. Understand the Purpose

Use them to soften lines, remove bulk, and blend between shorter and longer areas of the coat.

3. Use on Curved Areas

Follow the curve of the blade when trimming rounded spots like the topknot, rear, chest, or legs. Keep the blade curved side toward the dog’s body.

4. Trim in Layers

Work in small sections. Comb the hair up, then blend from the top down with light, repeated cuts. Avoid closing the blades fully each time—snip gently to prevent sharp lines.

5. Work from Pivot to Tip

Start each snip near the pivot for stronger control, and move toward the tip for finer work. This improves cut consistency and prevents chunking.

6. Check Progress Frequently

Step back every few minutes. Run your hand over the coat to feel for uneven texture. Re-comb and blend again as needed.
